KAIMH aims to foster professionals of mental health of young children and their parents through research and systematic training to help improve the mental health of young children and their parents. Its major functions are as follows:

1. Academic research on play therapy, parent education and counseling, and developmental psychology assessment of young children
2. Clinical research on play therapy, parent education and counseling, and developmental psychology assessment of young children
3. Publication of the journal and periodicals
4. Hosting of academic conferences and workshops for play therapy, parent education and counseling, developmental psychology assessment of young children
5. Training and certificate management of experts of play therapy, parent education and counseling, and developmental psychology assessment of young children
6. Exchanges with Korean and international academic associations for mental health of young children
7. Provision of information on mental health of young children
8. Other projects needed to achieve the goals of KAIMH
